Facelift(PRP) Platelet Rich Plasma Facelift and Facial

Prp-Treatment

This is a revolutionary new anti-wrinkle treatment using your own blood. The PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) facelift, also known as the REVamp Facelift’ (as coined by Kim Kardashian), involves the use of blood plasma, enriched through a special process to concentrate your plasma. This non-surgical, age defying wrinkle treatment injects PRP, derived from your own blood into various areas of the patients face to stimulate collagen production and cell migration,  in order to treat wrinkles, acne scars, and give the patient a younger rejuvenated appearance. The PRP FaceLift and Facial have become the procedures-of-choice for the Hollywood elite. Kim Kardashian recently devoted a TV episode to her procedure and this year’s Oscars included it in the famous Oscar Nominee Gift Basket.

To achieve the best results we also use a micro needling device. The pen consists of 12 micro needles that pulse up & down as the doctor glides it over the patients’ face. It punctures the skin and pushes the PRP substance into the “dermis” (the dense inner layer of skin beneath the “epidermis”). This adds the Facial to the Facelift.

Why The PRP Facial Works

The PRP Treatment contains platelets with growth factors that help to ramp up healing.  To understand how these platelets work, a paper cut will illustrate the basic points.  When we cut ourselves, we bleed into the cut.  The blood coagulates because of little cells in our blood called platelets.  The job of the platelets doesn’t stop there, they go on to release growth factors that help to heal the cut. Growth factors are like espresso shots for cells.  A cell works at a certain pace to do its job.  If  we add growth factors (like those in PRP), it’s like buying all of the cells trying to repair the area a bunch of Starbucks gift cards.  The cells react to the growth factors like people react to triple espresso shots, they work harder and faster.  So if we use an example of a construction site, where we have a few brick layers building a new wall, if we add growth factors, our brick layers will build our wall faster.

Collect Blood from Patient          Separate the Platelets                    Extract Platelet Rich Plasma        Apply PRP with a Dermapen
Blood is drawn from                 A centrifuge is then used to         Extract 3-7 ml                           PRP is applied to the
the patients arm.                     separate plasma and platelets       of Platelet Rich Plasma             patients face using a
from the red blood cells.                                                              dermapen which pushes
the PRP into the Dermal

  1. We draw blood from the patients arm.
  2. A centrifuge is then used to separate plasma and platelets from the red blood cells.
  3. Those blood platelets are mixed with a filler used to fill out wrinkles to provide a more youthful appearance.
  4. The patients face is numbed with a topical medication cream to reduce pain from needling.
  5. After the numbing medication is applied and left for about 30 min we begin the process of spreading the Platelet Rich Plasma onto the patients face.
  6. A dermapen is used to push the PRP into the skin and glides freely and easily over the tissue.
  7. Lastly the remaining PRP is injected into specific areas of the patient’s face that needs the most improvement such as to increase volume, decrease lines, and to improve acne scarring. (In some cases this step is done first.)

Benefits of The Platelet Rich Plasma Facial
Many patients report that their face looked refreshed, their fine lines and wrinkles diminished, they had no visible bruising at the injections sites with very minimal discomfort, and their results were almost instant.

You can also expect:

  1. Younger looking color to your skin because of the new blood vessel formation.
  2. The outer most layer of your skin or “epidermis” will appear smoother.
  3. The procedure stimulates new collagen production over time in the “dermis”. This will lift the face to a more youthful, firmer shape.
  4. Quick procedure lasting an hour to 90 minutes.

Healing and Recovery
Since the PRP facelift with the Dermapen is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that involves only injections, recovery time is minimal. You will not have any scars because we do not make any incisions; we only use needles. Also, since the substance used in the procedure derives from the patient’s own blood, there is very little risk of allergic reaction or abnormal response. The patient can return home right after the procedure. You may experience redness, which should go away after a few hours.

Potential Side Effects

Potential side effects can be temporary bruising, which can be caused by the reaction of the patient’s skin to the injections, mild swelling or edema, skin irritation or itching depending on the sensitivity of the patient’s skin but these should all resolve within a few days.

Common FAQ’s
How long do the results last and how many treatments are needed?
After a patient undergoes a PRP facelift the results will usually last between 9-18 months. For best results, patients will revisit their dermatologist for a reinforcement injection every 9-12 months.

Am I a Candidate?

The PRP facelift is ideal for everyone. It’s the perfect treatment for patients wanting to rejuvenate the face without surgery. It is also ideal for elderly patients as incisions made by the more traditional facelift surgeries can take a lot more time to heal and can include further complications related to surgery.

Is It FDA Approved?

The medical devices used during the PRP facelift procedure, the centrifuge and the Dermapen, are FDA approved and regulated. It is important to remember, that the FDA does NOT regulate surgical or medical procedures, instead it regulates the equipments being used in those procedures.
